Humane Education
The humane education program teaches children and adults about people
and pets. Presentations and educational support materials include the services
of the Austin Humane Society, responsible pet ownership, pet needs, safety
for and around animals, and pet overpopulation. Presentations are conducted
by appointment at the Austin Humane Society along with a tour.
At the current time, tours are offered by appointment only at
the Austin Humane Society. General tours include a brief educational
seminar, usually held in the auditorium, covering the services
of the Austin Humane Society; general pet care information; reasons
people give up their animals; the responsibility of owning a pet
and safety around animals.
A complete tour of the facility lasts between 60 and 90 minutes
and there is a minimum charge.
