Feral cats have been identified as the number one factor in our city's high cat euthanasia rate. The Austin Humane Society is committed to reducing this high euthanasia by reducing the number of homeless cats in our community through an aggressive Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) program that is free to the public.

This community program embraces the Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) method of feral cat population control. TNR works! It is humane, non-lethal, effective in eliminating colonies, and is more reflective of a caring society. AHS provides a free and public spay/neuter program for Travis, Williamson, Bastrop and surrounding counties.

Feral Cat Spay/Neuter clinics are conducted at least twice weekly at the Austin Humane Society and reservations are required. All cats receive their rabies vaccinations, flea control, deworming, earmite treatment and pain control FREE of charge. Optional FIV/FeLV testing and other vaccinations are available at low cost.

Please download the "Clinic Info" document below for more detailed information.

A little history of our new program: On Friday, March 2, 2007, AHS launched the Feral Cat Spay/Neuter Clinic at our facility on 124 West Anderson Lane. Thanks in part to the generous PetSmart Charities and ASPCA Mission Orange grants, the clinic offers sterilization and ear tipping of feral cats, along with a general exam, vaccinations and flea preventative.
