Donate an Item
Have an item you’d like to donate to the animals of AHS? You can leave your donation with a staff member in the lobby of our shelter at 124 W. Anderson Lane, Austin, TX 78752 during our open hours. Items we can accept:
- Heritage Ranch by H-E-B dog or cat food
- Any brand dry cat and dog food (opened is OK)
- Gift cards to H-E-B, Tomlinson’s, PetsMart, PetCo, Target, & Home Depot
- Paper towels
- Newspaper
- Puppy pads
- PetAg (kitten and puppy milk replacement)
- Peanut butter (creamy, sealed, non-organic, and unexpired)
- Towels (new or gently-used, all sizes)
- Sheets (flat ONLY)
- Blankets (without stuffing)
- Cans of Easy Cheese
- Friskies Poultry Pate
- Wet dog food of any type
- Litter scoops
- Cat litter (any brand)
- Small two-sided cat bowls
- Cat toys (any type)
- Small cat beds
- Washcloths and hand towels
- Royal Canin Baby Cat Dry Food *
- Top-loading plastic pet carriers
- Cans of tuna (packed in water)
- Meat-flavored baby food (no onion)
- Stainless steel bowls (non-spill, any size)
- Small electric heating pads without timers
- Gently used collars and leashes
- Greenies “Pill Pockets”
- Hard rubber activity dog toys (ex. Kong Wobbler, Nylabone)
- Unopened cat and dog treats
- Can openers
- Medical supplies (digital thermometers, rubbing alcohol, hydrogen peroxide, unopened distilled water)
- Cleaning supplies (brooms, dust pans, rubber gloves, sponges, trash bags, bleach, Dawn Dish soap)
- Ziploc bags – sandwich size
- Q Tips and cotton balls
Items we cannot accept:
- Expired medications
- Pillows and cushions
- Comforters and blankets with stuffing
- Dog Beds with stuffing
- Frozen dog food
- Pillowcases
- Fitted sheets
- Shredded paper
- Pill bottles
- Plastic litter pans
- Shock, prong, flea, or choke collars
- Grooming supplies
- Used computer equipment older than 2 years and/or not in good working condition
- Homemade dog and cat treats
- Over-the-counter flea treatments
- Rawhide chews
