Success Stories

I adopted Matt when he was 4 months old and surrendered to Austin Humane  Society.  And I am writing to celebrate his 1 year birthday 4/5/13 because he will be starting the first of many years of adulthood with me!  He likes relaxing, but he's also incredibly playful and affectionate. It's now a ritual for him to come greet me at the door when I come home, and he makes this deep purring sound when I pick him up. Sometimes he's so people friendly that I feel like I'm raising a puppy, not a cat and he follows me around everywhere! Even my mom, who didn't like cats before, is in love whenever she visits! Thanks, Austin Humane Society!

We adopted Andrew (now called Hiro) about two weeks ago. The day I went to adopt him he was moved to another location, so after a morning of  running around town I finally caught up to him at Petsmart and took him home. He's got the biggest personality and is the sweetest  boy!

It has been 10 wonderful years since we adopted Topaz from the Austin Humane Society. She has been an important part of our family and we are so grateful to have found her. We now live in Massachusetts and she loves the snow and going to the beach. It has been awesome watching my kids grow up with such a sweet soul.

I adopted the orange and white kitten Houston (now Commander Pawlmer). She's been very well behaved, perfect with the litter box and scratching post! She's fit just wonderfully into my little home and with my 7 year old Basenji, Kire! The two are adorable at play; Pawlmer tearing excitedly about the apartment and trying to instigate a chase, and Kire loping afterwards whining like a worried mother, and letting Pawlmer play with her tail and legs.

The reason I had wanted to adopt another animal in the first place is because I just moved from California, where Kire was used to spending the whole day playing with my landlord's dog. Here in Austin, she'd been so lonely; walking around the apartment, searching for her friend, and constantly whining. Since adopting Pawlmer, Kire's been much happier and content! :)
