Charlotte, run over and would-be left for a meeting, now has a new 'leash' on lifeCharlotte, run over and would-be left for a meeting, now has a new 'leash' on life

Charlotte, a young pit bull mix was in a terrible auto accident on Highway 71 just east of the airport about 3 weeks ago. She was hit by a car - her right leg was pinned under the wheel, and she suffered severe scrapes on the left side of her body. The person who responsible was not able to help her and had to leave the scene, stating shewas 'late for a meeting.' Fortunately for Charlotte, there was a good Samaritan who was right behind the accident was able to take her to the vet for safety. Charlotte had to have multiple treatments including a surgery to have her right back leg amputated, and she was treated for severe wounds on her left side. The doctors are uncertain that her fur will grow back in that place. The happy ending to this story is that the Austin Humane Society took Charlotte in and she is now a very happy girl. She is currently happy and healing. Charlotte is now looking for a home in one of our foster homes where she can receive the tender loving care she deserves while she is recuperating from this traumatic accident. Charlotte will be looking for her permanent family very soon and would like to meet you. If you would like to help the Austin Humane Society help Charlotte and other dogs and cats who need medical help, please visit our medical fund donation page. Thank you!
