We call them special needs because they need special owners! These dogs and cats are looking for someone who will shower them with affection and attention. We are committed to finding a home for every animal, even if it requires a little extra medical attention or training. (And between you and us, special-needs pets are some of the best pets around.) Gumble is a small dog with a great big personality! This eight year old Pekingnese mix had a rough time of things recently. He came to us with most of his fur missing and in need of medical care, but he's back on track and ready to love and be loved! Gumble does have some special medical needs, which will need to be monitored. He has a heart murmur so his activity has to be limited to leisurely strolls and mini play sessions. Oh...and lots of belly rubs!! Please don't let Gumble's special needs prevent you from getting to know him. He still has lots of love to give, fun to have, and friends to make. Gumble is lucky enough to have a wonderful foster home caring for him now. he has been making friends with the resident small dogs.

This little lady is Mini Mouse, but she is mighty in spirit! Mini survived leg and hip breaks and surgery before she came to us. When she arrived at the shelter she was clearly in some pain that kept her on edge. She has been relieved from that by another surgery, which was difficult to endure but successful. Now--Ta Daaa!--meet the new Miss Mini Mouse. About five years old, twelve pounds, bright and full of personality, very enthusiastic about the staff and volunteers she knows. She's still recovering, needs an owner who can continue her therapy and gentle care. Mini is waiting for her special family.
