Friday
9 month old Hound mix
Special Needs: Socialization

Meet your new best friend! Friday is a very special blonde hound mix who loves to cuddle with people and play with other dogs! He is about 40lbs, and is only 9 months old. He is a major cuddle-bug but is also very playful, so he will be a great pal when you are ready to go to the park on a sunny day!

The shelter environment is a little bit overwhelming for Friday, so we are hoping to adopt him out straight from his foster home! The perfect adopter would be someone who is willing to continue the training and socialization program that he has started in foster care. He has made a ton of progress, but he is still a little bit nervous about meeting new people. Taking Friday on frequent outings to familiar places is a great way to increase his sociability. Having regular play sessions with other dogs in addition to one-on-one human interaction is also a key factor in his training program!

If the prospect of meeting this wonderful little guy is enticing, feel free to contact the AHS Fostercare department to set up a meet and greet! You can contact the Foster Care department at (512) 685-0112 or, fostercare@austinhumanesociety.org. We look forward to introducing Friday to his forever family very soon!

Alfred
12 year old Domestic Shorthair Tabby
Special Needs: Behavioral

Who's the smartest cat we know?  Alfred! If you hold up two cans of cat food, he will rub up against the one he wants to have for dinner! No foolin'! This older gentleman cat also loves to hide out in boxes, baskets and other small, cozy areas.  He does best in a quiet, calm environment and must go to a home with no children, kittens or puppies.

Since Alfred can be a bit of a curmudgeon in the noisy shelter environment, he is currently in a foster home.  He is co-existing well with the adult cats and dogs in the home, but mainly likes to socialize with the humans, on his terms of course!  If you are interested in meeting Alfred, please contact the Foster Care Program at (512)685-0112 or fostercare@austinhumanesociety.org.

Woody
3 year old Sharpei mix
Special Needs: BehavioralWoody

Woody loves to meet new people and is always super excited to make new human friends. Exploring the neighborhood on walks is his favorite activity! He also loves spending time with his foster family, relaxing at their feet or playing in the backyard.

Woody is a bit of an escape artist though, so he cannot be left outside unsupervised.  He likes to chase cats and other small animals so he must go to a home with no cats or other small pets.

Come meet Woody! If you have questions or would like more information, please come for a visit or contact our adoption counselors by phone, 512-646-7387 Ext. 105 or by email: adoption@austinhumanesociety.org.

Thanks!

Lovebug
2 ½ year old Domestic Shorthair Manx
Special Needs: Medical & Behavioral

Lovebug

Lovebug really lives up to her name!  She enjoys giving and receiving affection, and thrives on human attention.

She does not like other cats though and must go to a home where she can be the only feline.
Miss Lovebug has also been finicky about using her litter box in the home.

Adopters should consider Feliway feline pheromone upon entering new home for calming effects, since going to new home is highly stressful and can exacerbate existing behavioral issues.  If you give this chubby Manx girl a chance, we know you won’t regret it!  Lovebug is here at the shelter so come visit her today!

Olive
4 year old Pit Bull Terrier mix
Special Needs: Behavioral

Olive

Olive loves to meet new people and is always super excited to make new human friends. She's not quite sure of other dogs though, so she must have a home where she can be your one and only. Olive is seeking an adult only family with no other pets who are experienced dog owners and willing to continue her training.

Sit and down are old news for this obedience school veteran and she's currently working new commands like stay and roll-overShe will reward you with a life filled with laughter, smiles and love. Since Olive prefers to be an only dog, shelter life can be stressful for her, and she is currently enjoying life in a foster home.  If you would like to schedule an appointment to meet Olive, or learn more about her, contact the AHS Foster Care Program at (512)685-0112 or fostercare@austinhumanesociety.org.

Princess Tiny --- ADOPTED!!!!
1 year old Chihuahua/Rat terrier mix
Special Needs: Medical & Behavioral
CONGRATULATIONS, TINY!

Princess Tiny is an active, friendly little girl.  She is crate trained and house trained.  She gets along well with other dogs and enjoys play time and cuddling!  P. Tiny had surgery for a luxating patella back in August.  She is getting around just fine in her foster home. She loves running around and playing with the much larger resident dogs.  At this time, she does not need any further medical treatment for her leg.

The stress of shelter life proved to be too much for P. Tiny, so she is currently staying in a foster home. She sometimes barks at strangers, especially men, so adopters will need to be sure to introduce new people to her slowly.  If you would like to learn more about her or schedule an introduction, please contact the Foster Care Coordinator at (512)685-0112 or fostercare@austinhumanesociety.org.
